Myconian Imperial Hotel, Mykonos

Turquoise sea, white houses and a refreshing wind characterise the beautiful Greek island in the Cyclades.

We found the Myconian Imperial Hotel during our search for the perfect honeymoon destination in Europe. The spot had to fulfil certain criteria: beach, pool, sea view, sunshine, a choice of restaurants and a spa. What can I say, it lived up to all!

Our room was, as you wouldn’t expect it differently on Mykonos, white and offered a beautiful sea view. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous; the pools were surrounded by sunbeds looking out to the sea, the beachside was windy and perfect for a dip. The sun was shining every day, the choice of restaurants was huge and the spa treatment was very relaxing.

Restaurants

The five star hotel is built on a hill with 3 other hotels. All of them belong to the same family and are managed by four brothers. The Myconian Imperial and the Royal Myconian are members of the Leading Hotels of the World, the Ambassador is a Relais & Châteaux hotel and the Myconian Avaton is a boutique design resort. Each has at least one very good restaurant and they are all in walking distance. My husband and I tried every single one of them and the payment was very easy, we just charged the meals on our room!

Sightseeing

A shuttle bus leaves several times per day and takes the guests to the village called “Chora”, half an hour away from the hotel. Also named “Mykonos town” it is famous for its white wind mills and “little Venice”.  Throughout our stay we went several times for dinner and shopping. I had the best ice-cream at “Kayak” in the centre of town. If you see it, you HAVE TO pop in and order Belgian chocolate!

We had a wonderful time at the Myconian Imperial and on the island. The hand-made sandals we bought will always remind us of the great time. And who knows, maybe we will already be back next year…
