Nira Caledonia, Edinburgh

After 5 days in the Scottish Highlands my fiancé and I decided to end our holidays with a weekend in Edinburgh. As I love the typical British architectural style, it was my wish to stay in a townhouse hotel…

…and as you can see above, we found one! The Nira Caledonia is a five star boutique hotel situated in a residential area only a short stroll away from George Street (great for shopping) and the city centre.
Our room, a “petite double room” was in the main building (no. 6) on the very top floor, which included a lot of stair climbing for us, as there is no elevator.

The room lived up to its name as it was really “petite”, but big enough to fit ourselves (of course) and two large suitcases. Besides the standard facilities of a five star hotel (safe, hairdryer, etc.) the room was equipped with a Nespresso coffee machine, a kettle and an IPod plug-in station. An extra special attention was the “bed side stories” book on the nightstand.

The bathroom was also “petite” but practical and offered everything one needs. The amenities are from “T London” and smell like Darjeeling.

An always very important part for me in hotels is the breakfast. At the Nira Caledonia it can be chosen partly “à la carte” and at the buffet. Most importantly, it is served until noon at the weekend and tastes very good!

During our two nights stay, the service was impeccable, the reception staff very kind and helpful and the hotel well maintained.
When next time in Edinburgh I will definitely stay in the Nira Caledonia again.
However, I will grant myself a deluxe room!

Looks amazing! While the room is a little small, the interior looks very tasteful. It kind of makes the room extremly cozy. Definitely something I like at luxury hotels 🙂
